Bottoms Up

Important news, guys, as June nears its end: Heather G. still wants us to know she’s gay. And her enthusiasm for coming out is infectious, because over lunch today Crankenstein announced “I’m gay, Heather” for probably the third time this month.

Next up, because I’m short on time — Crankenstein made the mistake of asking “Who’s Richard Widmark?” when I picked up a few of his movies from the library recently, so I’m introducing her to Kiss of Death — here’s a great new arrival that will go with a cheeky Pete and Basil project:

Last but not least, in lieu of a lighthouse update — there’s been a wallpaper delivery delay — here’s a look at how my first 1:12 project is coming along. I’ve been sanding its boards, which are rougher than what Real Good Toys currently manufactures, and have struggled to find an appropriate door for its long, thin opening; the Houseworks model recommended for use with this 1992 kit is dated and unattractive.

Unless I decide to cut a wider (and preferably arched) opening, the cottage door pictured below might work. There’s a slight gap to close but I could stain it and dress it up with the hardware I selected to make it passably Tudor-ish. The address plaque has sentimental significance, like each I’ll affix to my houses: 1251 is the number of wins Roger Federer notched in his ATP career.
